Under boil water advisory on Saturday (in specific areas)

In a recent announcement, Atlanta’s Department of Watershed Management instituted a halt on water service on Friday at 5 p.m. primarily in downtown Atlanta and its surrounding areas such as Northwest Atlanta, East Atlanta, Midtown, Inman Park, Candler Park, Old Fourth Ward, and West End to carry out repairs on a 48-inch and 36-inch transmission line.

Subsequently, the Department issued a boil water advisory after 2 p.m. on the same day, which remained in effect throughout Saturday. This advisory applied to any Atlanta water customers experiencing water outages or low water pressure. Various areas affected include restaurants and establishments in Downtown, Little Five Points, Grant Park, and others.

This water advisory has caused disruptions for events such as Megan Thee Stallion’s concert at State Farm Arena and necessitated checking event statuses ahead of attending an event in the affected areas. For updates and related information, Atlanta residents can consult the city’s updated Water Outage map, Watershed Management’s website, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram feeds. The Atlanta Watershed Management has also created a tipsheet advising what to do during a boil water advisory. This includes helpful tips on safe food handling and suggestions for coping without water service.
