Montgomery County Police Search for Suspect in Parole and Probation Agent’s Death

In a recent development, the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division is actively searching for Emanuel Edward Sewell, a resident of Chevy Chase, Maryland. Sewell is wanted in connection with the death of a Maryland Parole and Probation agent.

On Friday, May 31, 2024, at approximately 5:50 p.m., officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police 2nd District were dispatched to the 2800 block of Terrace Drive in Chevy Chase for a welfare check on a Maryland Parole and Probation agent who had not reported back to work. Upon entry into the residence, officers discovered an adult male who was pronounced dead at the scene. Sewell was not in the apartment and has not been located.

Emanuel Edward Sewell, aged 54, is believed to be driving a gray 2017 Hyundai Elantra with Maryland license plates 9301-279-8000. A warrant for Sewell’s arrest has been obtained, charging him with second-degree murder. He is considered dangerous and armed, so it is advised not to approach him if located.

The name of the decedent will be released following proper notification of next of kin. The manner and cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
