Crowds gather for Manhattanhenge sunset in New York.

In an annual spectacle known as “Manhattanhenge,” residents and visitors of New York City flock to specific streets to witness the setting sun align with the city’s gridiron street layout. This year, the event will occur on the 28th of May and the 13th of July, with the sunset partially illuminating the streets of Manhattan on 14th, 23rd, 34th, 42nd, and 57th Streets, as well as the Long Island City section of Queens. Interestingly, the “Full Sun” events, where the entire sun’s disc is visible on the grid, will take place a day later on the 29th of May and the 12th of July. This unique astronomical phenomenon offers a stunning view of the sun setting between the city’s towering skyscrapers.
